Net Zero

Posted by: | Comments (4)

Evening all.

One of those amusing late season games tonight where it doesn’t really matter who wins for BOTW.

I backed Everton to be “The best of the rest” back in August at 5/2, and a win tonight would see them move within a point of Bolton who currently hold that key 7th place.  The Trotters really have beaten even my expectations.

Every point Owen Coyle’s men rack up from now until may are all pure profit for BOTW havnig gone long on their total of 41 at 1pt per point.   That could be a 10 point hike in itself.

However, we are also exposed to Everton’s opponents tonight at Goodison Birmingham’s total points – so a sneaky away point or three won’t do too much harm.

It’s a bit too early to consider any hedging positions at the moment, so this is just a case of sitting back and enjoying the game I guess.

Or you could watch Spurs vs AC Milan.  Hmmmm….

After the comments in my weekly post, I thought I would pop a quick piece up on the pricing of the Manchester derby.

Man United have drifted this morning on the exchanges, out as far as 1.99 and with material sums trading at 1.92 to 1.94.

This is a very big price for Man United at Old Trafford.  As context, there have only been eight occasions since the start of the 2005/06 season that Man United have been even money or better in a home game.  Check out the table below.

BOTW Update – January 2011

Posted by: | Comments (13)

It really felt like spring is on the way today.  I went for a run at lunchtime, the sun was shining and you would have thought is was April.

Good times.  Days like today really drill home quite how much the winter months affect my mood.

This then got me thinking that as we had now firmly left January behind for another year, I should probably post a quick summary of BOTW’s January results.

Why so blue?

Everyone should know by now that there are four or five teams around the league that I have a bit of a fetish for.

One of said team’s is Birmingham City.  The Blues go into today’s game at West Ham in the relegation zone, and only goal difference keeps them off the foot of the table.

Alex McLeish has come under a bit of pressure in recent weeks from fans, media and board alike and there have even been a few rumours that the board may at one point have been considering his position a few weeks ago – although I seriously doubt that was actually the case.

I have to be honest I don’t really understand the negativity towards McLeish – or his team for that matter.

Let’s have a look at a few aspects to see how McLeish is getting on at St Andrew’s.

Derisking in running

Posted by: | Comments (6)

Ladies and Gents,

Just a quick note to say that I am derisking the Villa v Fulham position on the exchanges at this point at 1.3.

I will use this as an example to show people how to do this for those that are not experienced in doing such things.

Cheers.
