Cherry picked… Well not really
ByA little bit more like giving the tree a damn good shake and seeing what falls out!
A real mixed bag today, and hence all at low stakes.
There is nothing on the entire coupon that I “love” today. But there were plenty of things I “really liked”, so rather than split hairs over which to back and which to leave out, I have decided to take a slightly scattergun approach. Let’s live a little!
A couple of these selections may actually be zero EV selections, but that is acceptable at these stakes.
In the Championship I am taking a small position against Barnsley against Nottingham Forest. Billy Davies’ men continue to make a meal of getting themselves back into the playoff race. But they will do eventually. I promise.
Down in League 1, I am going to place three bets today. But only two off the coupon.
Current league leaders Brighton, generally priced at 11/2, are still 7/1 for the title with Betfred. This seems to be a bit of lazy pricing from Mr Done and I am going to take a little position on The Seagulls.
With that giving us exposure to the rapidly improving Southampton and the current league leaders I feel we will be in good shape come May.
I don’t think Peterborough have what it takes to win the league, but we may have to keep an eye on Sheffield Wednesday. They have another winnable away game at Yeovil today and have been on a bit of a charge recently – which BOTW has profited from on two occasions.
Back to today’s action. League 1 is actually the division I have got the best handle on at this point in the season.
I am going to have a little tinkle on The Cherries to beat the MK Dons @ 5/4 with Totesport. I’m not sure quite what it is I have against the MK Dons. But they always seem to be on the receiving end of my slapping stick.
Most of the market is at 11/10 for this one, and I personally would have gone even money. So 5/4 gives us a nice bit of headroom.
For those still picking up the more detailed parts of sport betting, can you figure out the forecast ROI of this selection?
My second selection from today’s League 1 coupon is a real tiddler. Wallsall to win away at Dagenham & Redbridge. This is a pure regression call. Chris Hutchings’ men are languishing down near the bottom of the league at the moment, but I expect them to pull away to mid table soon.
They have lost seven games so far this season – all by a single goal. In five of those games they also managed to get on the scoresheet, including in away games against leaders Brighton and at Spotland against our old favourites Rochdale, who have got off to a cracking start in the higher tier.
There is definitely value in this fixture, but again keep the stakes low.
Finally, in League 2, I am going to follow up last weeks successful stab on Crewe with the exact same selections. There are very few sides in the league I feel you can make any money out of the overs/unders. But Dario Gradi’s men are at the top of that list and Southend should be good for a goal as well today too.
Apologies for the lack of analysis this week, but I am short on time.
Adios amigos.
BOTW: 2 pt exposure lay of Barnsley at home to Nottingham Forest
2 pts on Brighton to win League 1 @ 7/1
2 pts on over 2.5 goals in Southend v Crewe @ 4/5
1 pt on Bournmouth to beat MK Dons
0.5 pts on Wallsall to beat Dagenham & Redbridge @ 11/4
