Over to the masses
ByCome on then gang. It’s approaching Friday lunchtime, so it about time we all got thinking about where we are putting our cash this weekend.
I will put something together this evening once I have had some time to study the coupon.
But for once I thought I would see if anyone out there has anything inspirational they would like me to consider?
17 heads are better than 1 after all. Unless they are all attached to the same person I guess.
So… what have you got for me?!

Pains me as it does to suggest this, I think laying Liverpool is a decent bet. They are on at 2/5 at home to West Ham on Monday night. This is a tricky fixture for the Reds for several reasons:
- Firstly their form on Monday night football is horrendous
- They are playing Athletico Madrid away on the Thursday
- Torres is not expected to play
- West Ham still need points to avoid relegation
- Fourth place could well be sown up by Monday
The big problem with any bet on Liverpool this season is that they are just so unpredictable. They could just as easily win this 3-0 as to lose 2-1, but this doesn’t look like a 2/5 to me. And I’m an optimistic Reds fan!
Poll
Blez,
I fancy Wolves to scavange at least a point away at Craven Cottage this weekend and am consequently going to lay Fulham at 2.2 on Betfair.
Ahead of the biggest game in the history of the club, I fancy Mr Hodgson to again send out a weakened side, as was the case against Hull a few weeks back. Whilst they will again be up in arms at such a decision down at Upton Park, this is the only sensible call when a tricky away tie to Hamburg is coupled with having next to nothing left to play for in the league. Anyhow, quite frankly Messrs Gold and Sullivan can piss off back to selling lads mags and spanking paddles and leave poor little Gianfranco to go about his work.
Wolves are obviously in the scrap of their life and will surely be feeling that they cannot allow themselves to return home empty handed. Whilst I won’t be tuning in for the highlights on MOTD, I’m backing the Wanderers to get the job done..just!
Looks like great minds think alike guys!
Surely a weakened Big 4 side versus relegation candidates is a different story altogether?? I mean Smalling, Baird and Dempsey vs Aquilani, El Zhar and Ngog..it’s really no contest, in fact folks get laying Liverpool now!!
In all seriousness though, whilst I’m backing the Hammers to stay up, I think most fans would envisage that the required points coming from Wigan and Fulham. After all, it’s not Liverpool’s home form that has got them into this mess..
The Big 4..now that was an interesting concept wasn’t it!!
Fancy Inter to beat Juvenus, with under 2.5 goals as well
wow picking games is a lot harder when you have to justify it. i have talked myself out of every pick so far. was tempted by havant and w in bss, bury, rochdale and notts c in league 2 and newport county to bounce back vs 2nd place dover. instead i am going to get beered up tonight and have another look in the morning.
I win
Great shout Karl. Hope that has paid for your weekend plans! Out of interest, how do you like to back a selection like that?
Do you stick to two singles on the separate markets? Or a split stake across the 1-0 and 2-0 in the correct score markets?
Lets hope I can dig up something equally as impressive for the weekend ahead…
I know one thing for sure – it isn’t going to involve the unpredictable madness at Eastlands!
Not Nixon – Look forward to seeing what you plump for tomorrow. Certainly seems like we look at thinks from the same angle going off the teams you named there. I have to fight to find a way not to back Notts County every single week! And we all know about my past fetish for Rochdale.
Poll/Dayno – I am not ignoring your musings, far from it. Thought I would pop a post together to discuss at some point this weekend.
Cheers guys
Karl – good man great shout, i followed your lead with inter. might take the missus out to macca’s or something…
Found this comment describing the scottish grand national:
“isn’t that just 50 smack heads running for the methadone clinic in the morning?”. brilliant.
For a high priced treble, how do we like ipswich, southampton and dagenham and redbridge? Clearly risk lies in in the first two but still looks very winnable and at about 8.5/1… that is where my lunch money is going.
McCoy – Agree with you on the risk part… If the correct Ipswich turn up you have a chance at a big win with that one though.
Price on Southampton one of the weeks biggest movers… 11/10 (2.1) in to 8/11 (1.73) now…
Left the gambling alone on Saturday. Being a Man City fan is a thankless task at the best of times but yesterday was horrific and I was in no mood to gamble after seeing that ginger asmatic stroll into our box and break my heart.
Some good bets out there but there will be other days.
Good blog though- enjoy your musings.
