Perfect 10
ByI am hoping to take advantage of a perfect 10 this weekend.
No, I don’t have a dirty weekend with Kelly Brook planned if that is what you were thinking, I am just backing BSN leaders Fleetwood yet again.
The Cod Army will be packing up their kit and trekking across the Pennines (hopefully not literally trekking!) on Saturday morning to one of the division’s other big spenders, Gainsborough Trinity.
Fleetwood (20/6/4/+38) continue to dominate teams at this level week in and week out, and have now chalked up an amazing 9 wins on the bounce.
Despite being managed by the living legend that is Brian Little (yes, the Brian Little), Gainsborough (4/8/14/-20) are somewhat surprisingly languishing down in the relegation zone and are in a real funk at the moment, currently without a win in 13 games and having only managed one win since the 8th of September – which was incidentally against the relatively poor bottom quartile side Gloucester City (9/3/16/-11).
Fleetwood’s away form has been a bit of a mixed bag and as a result this game is still priced up at a generous 4/6. However, I think some of these results are a little deceiving as they still possess the 2nd best defensive record away from home, they just struggled a touch in front of goal earlier on this season.
Although Fleetwood are sitting pretty a top of the table, unlike our resident nemesis down in the BSS, Newport County, they cannot yet relax with only one team guaranteed automatic promotion up to the BSP. They remain under real pressure from local rivals Southport, who were actually the last ream to take any points off Fleetwood when they gave their rivals a royal Christmas stuffing 5-0 back on Boxing Day.
Combining this continued focus with the poor defensive record of GT, who also happen to have the worst home record in the league, I expect Fleetwood to have no trouble getting on the scoresheet and run out comfortable winners.
In fact, the Holy Blues may well need some divine intervention if they are to prevent the Fishermen completing a “perfect 10” on Saturday.
BOTW: 5pts on Fleetwood to win at Gainsborough Trinity @ 4/6
